For as long as I could remember, I have always believed that God subtly answers your prayer and guides you through the people around you. This is truer today for me than most days.

When something sad happens in my life like a loved one leaving, I don't dwell on it that much. I prefer to forget or deny that fact and do what I always do - to try to live life the best way I believe I should. Today, I woke up from a supposedly 30-minute nap, an hour late. As much as I don't want to word it this way..., on the 46th day of my grandma's death, I dreamt of her.

I've been struggling for the past months about a personal problem. I seem like my normal self but it keeps me awake at night. Passingly, I shared it with my friends when I sort of got over it. And a day or two ago, somebody from my college allegedly did what I had intended to do although I would have chosen the less painful way to go.

In my dream, I was with someone and we were in my hometown. My grandma asked us to go somewhere near the palengke for some odd reason which got me grumbling over it. When we got home, my lola was waiting for us with 2 of my cousins and my younger self at her back who were oblivious to her presence.

I cannot articulate the words like how she does, but she said, "Alam niyo ba kung saan kayo dumaan?"

Baffled, I answered, "Sa roundball?"

"Ang roundball no, kahit ma-stuck ka, madami kang choices kung saan ka dadaan"

After the conversation, my cousins looked at me weirdly as to why I was talking to thin air and asked if I was talking to lola. I answered, "Of course, ilang days na kami nag-uusap ah? Sinamahan niya pa nga ako kanina maglakad hanggang dun". Even in my dream I am in denial. For the nth time, the truth slapped me that she was not here anymore - that what I thought was our normal routine was not.

"Bakit? Bakit ako lang makakita sayo?"
She smiled and looked at the distance, "You know, kahit nandun na ako, I always pray to God to let me live a little longer"

I believe this is God's answer to my predicament. I am the type of person who has everything planned out. I do what I do today because I have a vision and when something does not go as I had mapped it out, I get stuck and cannot think of any other way than the way I have planned. I have an inkling that I might be a perfectionist because you might say, "madami ka pa namang choices ah" pero no. I don't work that way. I don't work that way but God throws these "failures" in my plans that constantly forces me out of my comfort zone to take another track. It breaks my heart every single time to bend my will but I believe God is breaking me in the right places so I could be whole again in the right time.

Cheers to our God who works mysteriously in our lives and to my lola who continues to "yawyaw" from heaven although di na pwede paulit ulit kasi may time limit lang dreams ko🍷

18th year celebration in 18 pictures

On the 17th day of the 8th month, I turned 18. I'll let you do the math to when that was ;)

I didn't want a a party because I was socially awkward like that. So, my parents just flew to Manila for my birthday and stayed 'til the end of the month. And when they weren't visiting me on weekends, they were touring Luzon - I. was. so. so. so. jealous. It's like it isn't my birthday lol

Oh and since my grandma was still in Luzon, I decided to just have a BBQ party at my aunt's place. To sum it up, all I wanted was BBQ, Tempura and a cake for my birthday.

My birthday fell on a Sunday. Saturday, I still had classes (How sad is that?). As I was walking to my classroom, my coerced male classmates - my professor even - started giving me roses. Then my friends popped out and gave me a cheesecake - an OREO CHEESECAKE! They've actually been planning it for a week and I haven't got the slightest hint that they did. That is how insensitive I am. Okay. It was really sweet. I mean, I didn't expect them to do that since we've only known each other for like a year. I know some of you guys read my blog... I wanna say Thank you. Even though I had my poker face on, deep inside I was doing a happy dance ;)

(So sad I didn't have any picture)

Unfortunately, the week after my birthday was coordinated quiz week so I had to like study the whole weekend TT_TT I didn't even have the time to buy a new dress. At 12 am, my bestfriend foiled the plan of my mom (who stayed up late so she could be the first one to greet me) by calling me in the wee hours.

We were having my celebration at the rooftop.
...when I got there, this is what I saw...

I kind of got the hint that there was some kind of surprise like the cliched surprise group greeting - which did happen - when my dad said something along the lines of: "Sabay tayo umakyat ha". How obvious could my dad get?

I wasn't expecting they'd actually decorate the place though. Thank you po sa effort~

If other girls had pre-debut photoshoot, I had during debut photoshoot lol. Glad to have an art-student cousin <3

The food was great. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I got my cake from Karen's Kitchen (beside the chocolate one) which was indeed as the reviews say the best red velvet cake. Too bad the design was damaged during transportation but for sure I'll be getting myself one for Valentine's next year. Yes. I give myself cakes during Valentine's. My life is sad jk

Thanks a lot to the girls on the right for dwarfing me ...err... making the celebration special.

The surprise apparently doesn't end there. My cousins compiled messages and videos from my friends all over Philippines lol which made me cry - which I think is their main goal.

Some time during the program, my dad changed his top into this horrifying shirt. I cried. I didn't know if it were tears of joy or tears of embarrassment. My sister who was sadly back at home, was wearing the same shirt that night.

The embarrassment doesn't stop there of course... my mom gave me a set of that shirt: a pink, white and brown shirt. Plus a mug. I. am. so. not. using. it.

The highlight of my birthday was definitely when my grandma cried. She was the one who basically raised me since my parents were always busy working and she is someone who isn't showy when it comes to her feelings. So when she cried instead of giving me her message, I was so happy deep inside v^.^v

I may be 18 now, but rest assured I won't be getting married or getting pregnant or getting jailed any time soon. Hoping to save my millions in the near future though hahaha

You know who you are. Thank you for making my day special. I am blessed to have you grace my life :)

Once in a blue moon

A very rare occasion happened yesterday: We went shopping!
The best thing about it this time was: she let me buy whatever I wanted despite the price.

One of my best buys for that day was my new Yadu tattered wallet that I bought for P450. Quite costly if you ask me but I really think it's worth it.

My mom objected at first but eventually gave in when she saw my previous HK wallet mouthing 'Hi' to her ;)

Other stuffs I bought:

Pardon me if I'm unable to grace you with my hideous face. I've been suffering from a bad acne. I don't  know what happened but pimples just started sprouting like mushrooms out of nowhere. This has been my worst acne so far T___T. We're going to my mom's dermatologist next week with hopes that she can abracadabra my acne away.

PS. Pardon the crappy photos for now. I'm gonna re-take them soon. I just needed to get the thought out of my head.

The Best Mom in the World

Happy Mom's Day

...I can't remember the last time I made an effort to do more than greet my mother on Mother's Day. I've always had the knack of forgetting days like these and even their birthdays. I think I might've under-appreciated my mother for years.

I used to make cards with stick people representing my family holding hands together and 'I love yous' written on the side of the card in my scrawny handwriting (not that it made a difference in my current one). One day, I just stopped making them. I grew out of it. I thought it was lame, writing the same things all over again each year. Instead, I gave mom gifts which I think was given half-heartedly because I lack funds to actually buy the gift I wanted to give her.

Today, I was touched by a message of a boy from our Church. He was in the middle of his message for his mom when he started tearing up. You all know how big men's egos are usually right? The fact that he cried in front of all those people whilst telling his mom how much he loves her made me sentimental. I wondered how I would do if I were in his place... Would I tear up too?

I cannot express my love for my mom in a paragraph without tearing up and getting sappy so instead, I'm going to write the reasons why I think I have the best mom in the world

11 (and more) Reasons Why I Have The Best Mom In The World:

1. She carried me for 9 months + gave birth to a beautiful baby (ME! ;D )
2. She makes me study Spartan-like (I get like 3 wrong answers and she whips my butt. Nah. Just kidding. She makes me re-read all my textbooks).
3. She's like Peter Pan, she never grows old (my classmates thought she was my older sister)
4. She's an FBI/manghuhula/secret agent/ninja, she knows what I did without seeing it.
5. She secretly buys me stuffs that my Dad and Grandma opposes to.
6. My mom is a wizard, she can conjure up money in times of troubles.
7. She has superb budgeting skills (which she tries so hard to instill to me).
8. She's actually the one who invites me to go jogging, play lawn tennis and ride a bicycle.
9. She thinks more of me than herself.
10. She can make me cry even if we're only Skyping.
11. She loves me very much
12. ...and the list goes on...

A list of the reasons why I have the best mom in the world can't justify why my mom is the best. She just is (for me anyways). So much for my long blog post of nonsense only my mom would probably appreciate, I just wanna say one last time...

Happy Mother's Day Mama!
From: Your beautifully made daughter who will stick by you through thick and thin.

PS. I Love You

Kawaii Buta Bankbook Wallet

I have been eyeing this wallet since last year but haven't got the funds to support my whims. I actually wanted to use this as a replacement for my old wallet which is now starting to have mouths on the wrong places.

I first found out about these bankbook wallets online. I tried finding cheaper deals but the lowest I got was around P200 or P250 (shipping fee not included). It was too much so I turned a blind eye on my whims and tried being practical by not buying online until I found this this weekend while I was strolling //forever alone

Piggy

It was bigger than what I imagined. I thought it was gonna be the size of a wallet but it was actually the size of a small notebook. Pictures fool people - the power of photography.

A cashbook was included inside.

Bubble Cashbook
I bought this with the thought that it was gonna be helpful for accounting. Hopefully, all will go well :)

This is available for pre-order at Haru Shoppe
Price: P150 each

My hug buddy

Meet my 'hug buddy', Althea.

I often hug my best friend, Neslin when I'm cold but she's not a big fan of touchy feelings and would often push me away. She's also a sadist so I suggest you don't get in her way. On the other hand, I don't like hugging my other best friend, Mabelle because she's too tall (like coconut tall Hahaha) and my head can't rest on her shoulder when I hug her and she's not fat (I like hugging people with a lot of fats rather than bony people). Lah.

And then... here I meet Althea, the girl with the same fetish for hugging people like me. She hugs people because she's eccentric. I hug people because I can't stand the cold. And NO, I don't hug guys! I only hold their arms when I'm cold. I prefer hugging girls because hugging guys would seem inappropriate... Well, you get the drill.

Huggie
We gave each other that cheesy nickname since we love hugging people (and each other HA!).

~

Huggie, for some reason (probably because of your awesomeness ;) ) I'm missing you. And if ever you're reading this blog post, don't forget my 'pasalubong'. Food will do. You of all people would know how much I love food XD. This would probably be the hidden reason of why I'm missing you and writing this blog post. Just kidding.
