Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, he looks at the court the same way he did 20 years ago.
Koronadalenyo at heart, he is Kenneth Duremdes alias Captain Marbel. He is the man that beyond the money and the fame still loves the game as it is.
Influenced by his siblings, he took the same path they took in basketball. Along the way, he fell in love, became passionate and triumphed.
Proud Colts! Kenneth Duremdes finished his elementary and secondary education (Batch 1993) at Notre Dame of Marbel University. In an interview with him, when asked what his unforgettable moments during his plays with the Colts, he said, “Meets kasi parati kaming champion”.
His days were one of NDMU-IBED’s greatest when it came to basketball. Other schools during meets shudder at the mention of the Colts. The Colts was feared and at the same time looked up by neighboring schools. Those were IBED’s crowning days.
“What Marist players lack is training in basics”, Duremdes said. “With today’s latest equipment and drills, Marist players can do it”
Now retired from his life’s greatest achievements PBA, PBL and the Philippine National Team, Kenneth Duremdes focuses on his business and teaching basketball by visiting schools.
May it be an audience of thousands and a game broadcasted over the nation or a small gym with little children as spectators, basketball will remain the same. It still gives him the same touch, the same feeling, the same passion of shooting not for fame or money’s sake but for the love of it.
Outcome of the interview (I mentioned) I had with Mr. Duremdes...
